Designer

THE ROLE

The Designer provides support to the Senior Designer in the creative execution of seasonal collections from concept to completion, emulating the creative vision of SPELL’s aesthetic.



RESPONSIBILITIES


  • Provide support to the Senior Designer in the design and development of balanced seasonal collections from concept to completion
  • Create sketches, illustrations, and style information in line with SPELL’s aesthetic
  • In partnership with Senior Designer, manage all aspects of design including material direction, sketch, colour palette, print placement and trim selection
  • Research seasonal trends, themes, colours and silhouettes
  • Create and prepare inspiration and presentation boards
  • Work collaboratively with team across departments including Design, Technical, Marketing & Sales
  • Prepare accurate CADs and handover specs of initial concept for our Technical Team
  • Adhere to Design calendar deadlines and understand seasonal calendar requirements
  • Maintain the Spell aesthetic whilst moving the brand forward with fresh inspiring ideas
  • Assist in creating and updating CADS, tech packs and design records
  • Work with Assistant Designer to ensure line plans are updated and accurate
  • Be customer-focused, innovative, solution driven & team-oriented
  • Understand sampling and productions costs in line with Company budgets
  • Support Senior Designer with meeting preparation, photo shoots, and fittings where required
  • Collaborate with technical team for adherence to quality and brand standards
  • Assist in achieving Sustainability goals within the Design Department

 

ABOUT YOU


You will have a positive attitude and the ability to be creatively innovative with design concepts and ideas.

  • A minimum of 4 years within a design team
  • Advanced skills with Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign
  • Outstanding sketch and presentation skills
  • Excellent technical drawing ability
  • Advanced knowledge of garment construction, including fit and finishes
  • Excellent time management skills
  • Positive attitude, creative, eye for detail with an ability to think outside the box
  • Strong knowledge of yarns, fabrics and trims
  • Have awareness of and consider margin/ budgets
  • Goal oriented, results driven
  • Tertiary qualification in Fashion Design would be advantageous but not essential
